SUPERINTENDENT NOTICE: Notice is hereby given to the governing Board and general public that the Facilities & Transportation Committee of the Governing Board for the Colstrip School District #19 will be held Monday December 20, 2021 beginning at 4:15 PM. The meeting can be attended at Colstrip High School in the Lower Level Commons. Entry through Door 24 from the Lower Parking Lot.

TRANSPORTATION: Due to weather conditions and visibility, busses are running 10-15 minutes late. Please be patient as we are doing our best. Thank you!

Colstrip Public Schools will be running a 2 route system this afternoon, Thursday, December 16th and Friday December 17th am and pm. Please allow 10-15 minute delays on these routes. The CPRD Kids Program and CPRD Breakfast Club will be dropped off and picked up approximately 15 min later as well. Thank you for your patience as we truly appreciate it.

SUPERINTENDENT ALERT: Attached is the Colstrip Public School's response to the TIK TOK Challenges on social media. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to your building administrator or myself. LETTER CONTENT: Dear Families, The Colstrip School District has become aware of a troubling post that has been shared widely this week on the social media platform TikTok. The post refers to a threat to school safety “for every school in the USA, even elementary,” on Friday, December 17. The post appears to be part of a national TikTok trend and did not originate in our school district. We have heard reports from other districts that the same post is circulating in their schools. While we do not believe the threat to be credible, we are closely monitoring the situation and taking it seriously. Additionally, the Colstrip School District has been in contact with our School Resource Officer who is part of the Colstrip Police Department regarding this post. We may have an increased police presence in our buildings on Friday as an added precaution. We take any post of violence directed at our schools seriously. This situation serves as a good example of why it is important to avoid sharing posts online that refer to school safety threats. Even if they are not credible threats, they can cause a great deal of stress and anxiety for our students, families, and staff. We ask our families to monitor their children’s social media activity and speak with them about proper behavior online. If you or your child become aware of any potential threat posted to social media or anywhere else, please notify a school staff member or trusted adult right away. SUPERINTENDENT ANNOUNCEMENT: Bruce Brown, Tyler Bush (McKinstry) and Superintendent Lewandowski presented the Coal Board Grant on December 9, 2021 and were awarded $127,112.00 to complete the CHS Academic Area LED Lighting of the grant. CPS was two of six applicants that were funded. There was only $309,152.00 available at the time and an estimated $1,000,000.00 additional revenue by the end of the fiscal year. Instead of funding other projects contingent on additional funding, the Coal Board only funded two projects. There were a total of $1,703,105.00 projects requested; however, the Coal Board only funded $170,062.00 of the available funds. Total Competitive Grants acquired since 2019: $1,740,738.00 ADA Compliance Phase I (5.1.19): $473.550.00 ADA Compliance Phase II (9.12.19): $271,303.00 Delivering Local Assistance (11.4.20): $747,500.00 LED Lighting CHS Academic Area (12.9.21): $127,112.00 Good job to everyone involved! FBMS Boys Basketball-- Boys Basketball start date will be Monday Dec. 20th. They will practice Monday Dec. 20th and Tuesday Dec. 21st. Christmas break starts Wednesday Dec. 22nd therefore they will not have practice over break. They will resume practice Monday Jan. 3rd after christmas break. CHS Basketball Update-- Lame Deer high school had a facilities accident. Therefore, basketball game times have been moved up and will be held at their old gym. Allen Rowland gymnasium in Lame Deer. Take a right at the the round about on highway 212 and you will see the facility on your left south of high way 212.
